Barolo is made from the autochthonous Nebbiolo grapes, known since Roman times (II century AD), cultivated in Barolo and its surrounding areas. The name Nebbiolo originates from the late ripening of the grapes, which postpones the harvest to when the first mists (or nebbia) of autumn rise. Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo. Colour: intense ruby red leaning towards garnet red. Bouquet: mineral, red fruit, vanilla. Taste: tannic, very long finish. Ageing: 30 months in French oak barrels, 6 months in the bottle.
