Sagrantino grapes are grown on the rolling hills around Montefalco and their cultivation dates back to the Middle Ages, thanks to the dedicated efforts of monks living in the San Fortunato monastery. It is called passito, or sweet, because its grapes are dried for two months before being vinified.
Grapes: 100% Sagrantino. Colour: ruby red, sometimes with purple hues. When aged it can become garnet red. Bouquet: mild, reminiscent of wild blackberries. Taste: sweet, harmonious, pleasant.
